Fantastic weekend adventures!

Hey everyone, here’s an update on our fantastic weekend adventures!

Friday was all about Catalina Island. We set out on a rental rod private charter and had an epic time on the water. For our 15 passengers, we wrapped up the trip landing one nice lingcod and limits of rockfish. It was a great start to the weekend!

On Saturday, we switched gears and headed to Santa Barbara Island. We kicked things off in the shallows, targeting yellowtail. Almost immediately, we found a school of yellowtail circling the boat for a solid half hour! Although we had a tough time hooking one, we moved on and anchored in about 180 feet of water. There, we enjoyed a bountiful day with rockfish, whitefish, sculpin, sheephead, and lingcod – each angler ended up taking home around 15 fish. A week earlier on Saturday at Santa Barbara, we had an amazing moment when we ended the trip with five yellowtail weighing up to 34 pounds! Because of that incredible experience, we’re considering, weather permitting, venturing to Santa Barbara Island on additional trips. Note that these trips will be decided on the day of the trip, and the return time could be later than posted. Also, a $20 fuel surcharge will be collected on those trips since we burn extra fuel and will need a second captain for trips that last more than 12 hours.

On Sunday, we returned to Catalina Island where over 50% of our anglers were novice! We ended up with one lingcod and limits of rockfish for all the anglers on board—what a weekend!

Check out these awesome pictures of yellowtail caught off Santa Barbara Island on Saturday. They remind us of the thrilling highs of the weekend, even though we lost a few as well, almost matching the number we landed!

Hope to see you out there on the water soon!
